Abstract
Giant cell tumor of the spine is very aggressive, thus spondylectomy for Enneking stage 3 giant cell tumor of the spine should be considered. After the resection of the tumor, autograft, structural cortical allograft or metallic implant (eg. cage or mesh cylinder) with autograft or allograft is used for reconstruction for the defect of spinal column.
Twenty nine year old lady who was diagnosed to Enneking stage 3 giant cell tumor in the first lumbar vertebra, was treated with total spondylectomy through anterior and posterior combined approach. For spinal column reconstruction, structural cortical allograft was used with anterior Zplate and posterior CD instruments fixation. At 18 years follow-up, patient showed an excellent clinical results with well maintained spinal column with structural allograft. Anterior column reconstruction with structural cortical allograft proved to be a reliable technique in patients with aggressive spine tumors.
